1977 born in Saverne (France). Today, he lives and works in Paris.
I am open towards all contexts, but you cannot make exactly the same things in all of them. I do not have any difficulties with integrating the institutional circuits of contemporary art.
I was invited to the Sharjah Biennale in 2003 and by the N.G.B.K in Berlin in 2004.
The Visual Kidnapping Project, for instance, began in the street, on Alexanderplatz in Berlin. I had kidnapped the Lavazza girl on the giant bilboard and asked the owner of the image a ransom of EUR 500,000. This sum symbolically represents the price of an advertising campaign for such a huge company. But it was in the space of a Berlin gallery that I cut off the finger of the girl to send it to Lavazza's headquarters in Italy.
Afterwards I hid it in the catacombs in Paris, I showed it in art centres and museums, on the internet and it was finally at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris that the company re-purchased its image by making a donation to the museum.
However, a project can unfold in different ways, depending on the context.
